The Firm represented the Petitioner in this case, the Union that was aggrieved with the increase of Academic fees for Masters Programmes. The Court held that even though the Respondent may be required to increase fees, the same must be done within the legal confines – the Handbook of Fees and Payment. The matter was concluded and Judgment entered in favour of our client. The Respondents have appealed to the Court of Appeal.
#MinimumRetirementAge
The Firm represented the Claimant, Prof. Stephen Okeyo who had been wrongfully terminated on the ground of minimum retirement age. The Court was satisfied that the Claimant was an academic staff and the retirement by the Respondent was premature. The decision to terminate him was in breach of contract, and unlawful. The Claimant was awarded Ksh. 13,943,621/-, costs of the suit and interest at Court rates from the date of judgement.
